NIS2: On the road to a digital sovereignty policy
About two years ago, in PTSOC News #8,
we talked about the European directive
EU 2022/2055, which we know as NIS 2,
published in the Official Journal of the EU on
27 December 2022.
In simple terms, the NIS2 Directive is the
EU’s cybersecurity legislation, providing
for legal measures to increase the general
level of cybersecurity in the Community’s
member countries.
This directive modernises the existing legal
framework to keep up with the increase
in digitalisation, and the evolution of
the cybersecurity threat landscape. By
extending the scope of cybersecurity rules
to new sectors and entities, it further
improves the resilience and incident
response capacity of public and private
entities, competent authorities, and the EU
as a whole.
